2. Principles

PinVault is an anonymous service for short-term file sharing. No account is required, we collect as little data as possible, and uploaded files are deleted automatically after 24 hours.

3. Hosting & storage

Files and metadata are stored on Appwrite Cloud in the Frankfurt (EU) region, acting as our processor (Art. 28 GDPR). Technically necessary access data (e.g. IP address) is processed to deliver and secure the service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

4. Data we process

• Uploaded files & metadata – temporary only, deleted after 24 hours.
• Anonymous id (cookie) – a random signed id so you can manage your own transfers; strictly necessary.
• Local storage – keeps your transfers’ access data and your cookie choice on your device.

5. Device pairing (“Scan to send”)

With optional pairing, the link to a transfer you created is briefly relayed through our server to your other device. The pairing session is single-use and expires after at most 10 minutes.

6. Cookies & consent

Non-essential cookies (in particular for advertising) are only used with your consent, which you can change or withdraw at any time via the “Cookies” link in the footer.

7. Google AdSense

To fund the free service we use Google AdSense (Google Ireland Limited) – only after your consent. This may set cookies and transfer data to Google, including to third countries (e.g. the USA) under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. See policies.google.com/privacy.

8. Your rights

You have the rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection under the GDPR, may withdraw consent at any time, and may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
